IMPORTANT:
The following applies only to vehicles manufactured before December 2024. The manufacturer made changes to the bed reinforcement in November 2024, which resolved this issue.
• To maintain the structural integrity of the bed, Ford recommends installing reinforcement supports (J-brackets) when attaching accessories to the bed edge.
• Specifically, this means that for accessories (e.g., hardtops) that extend beyond the bed edge and weigh more than 45 kg, the installation of a J-bracket is necessary. The part in question is shown in blue in the illustration.
Ford sells these supports as compatible spare parts, under the following references:
