How it works:
The hollow rubber spring is the main component of the Maxi-Load suspension upgrade kit. This is not a simple solid rubber bump stop like conventional ones, but an engineering masterpiece. The stiffness and progressiveness of the spring are achieved through careful design of the critical dimensions. The main dimensions influencing performance are the height (H1), the outer diameter (OD1) and the inner diameter (ID3). In addition, the difference between the two chambers (H2, H3, ID1, ID2) plays an important role. The result is characteristics impossible to achieve with a single leaf spring or a coil spring: progressive (variable) stiffness, self-damping through hysteresis, and perfect vibration isolation. But that is not all, because after selecting the hollow rubber spring suited to your vehicle, its performance can be fine-tuned using various spacers (dimension T); the moment (or phase) at which the auxiliary spring should engage, for example at empty load or half load, according to your preference.
OEM system:

The OEM bump stop is made of soft, inexpensive synthetic polyurethane or solid rubber.
